Annual Memberships

July 13, 2026

Dear members and friends,

Thanks to your support, this past year was full of noteworthy programs and lectures. Our commitment to historic preservation continued with our new exhibits which focused on various themes. Through our partnership with the Sweat-Morin Homestead, we provided colonial programming as a test pilot for our newly created educational programming offerings. We offered museum experiences to 14 interns who have made their experiences with us memorable and productive.

While we received funding from the Harry A. Mapes Charitable Trust, the Stephen & Mary Birch Foundation, Partners Bank, Kennebunk Savings Bank, and the Margaret Burnham Charitable Trust, your support also helped us to present our programming to our community and allowed us to purchased needed curatorial supplies.

We exhibited stunning exhibitions honoring Sanford’s sons in the Civil War as well as many Maine and local photographers who made a great difference in the way we can view the daily life in the late 19th-century Sanford-Springvale. We secured various loans from the Maine Historical Society, the Lyman Historical Society and the Acton-Shapleigh Historical Society to round out our visitor experience.

We are addressing many maintenance issues such as replacing our north side door and ramp, painting and repairing the Edmund E. Goodwin House including insulation and window repair.  We are installing a new sign for the front of the museum and performing general day-to-day job jars — which are many! This is where your continued support comes into play for this year. Your membership will help to make all this possible.

We are also in the beginning stages of a full collections inventory which we have never done and finding precious moments held in time. Everything is whisking along at a brisk pace and causing much excitement!

At the Society, we embrace our responsibility as stewards of Sanford and Springvale history and all it holds in trust for the public. We're grateful to everyone who supported us this past year, we hope you'll continue your membership, and we look forward to seeing you soon at one of our upcoming events.

Thank you.

Warm regards,

Patricia Violette-Adams
